How has Homegrown/AUBA/MIC/SBB helped you with your basketball journey?

Attending MIC training sessions have taken my basketball to the next level which has enabled me to play at a very high level and has provided me the opportunity to play internationally at the NBTC Manila Live tournament

How did you start playing basketball and what drew you to this sport?

Growing up I was very involved in all sorts of sports; dancing, AFL football, soccer, martial arts, swimming and basketball. There eventually came a point in time where I had to choose one. I really wanted to pick up AFL, but due to its physicality and how “dangerous” it was perceived, mum firmly said no. So I evidently chose basketball, although soccer was a very close second. Being Filipino, it was an obvious choice, but most importantly I think my dad was glad with that decision. So I joined the closest junior basketball clinic and have never stopped since then.

Can you share a memorable game or moment from your basketball career?

My most memorable moment would definitely be the last 5 seconds of an Under16s grading game. I remember lining up for an opposition free throw being 2 points down and telling a teammate to pass me the ball. The opposition made her free throw and were now 3 points up. At that point all the other courts had finished their games and were watching ours, so that only added to the pressure and tension. I received the ball, dribbled up the court and shot the ball just past half court (although some might argue it was just a Hail Mary). After watching the ball go up, everyone held their breath, and swish, I sent the game into overtime. Our parents were screaming, people were in shock and I just didn’t know how to react. Given it was only a grading game and we eventually lost in overtime, it still sits much higher than any win, medal or award I’ve ever received.
